Manchester NH – Nestled in an industrial park off of South Willow Street in Manchester is a hidden honey hole of delicious beverages that goes by the name of Ancient Fire Mead & Cider. I met the owner Jason Todd Phelps over a year ago when Ancient Fire was still in the works so it was fun to visit the tasting room and see the vision turned reality.
What Exactly Is Mead?
Mead is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. The alcoholic content ranges from about 3.5% ABV to more than 20%. The defining characteristic of mead is that the majority of the beverage’s fermentable sugar is derived from honey.
